Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has officially denied allegations claiming that she and her family members hold United States citizenship.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the diplomat addressed the issue during an appearance on Sputnik Radio. Zakharova stated: "Neither I, nor my husband, my daughter, my mother, or my father have US citizenship, and we have never had it."

According to the spokesperson, such rumors began circulating immediately after her appointment as the Director of the Information and Press Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She emphasized that these claims are not supported by any facts and were officially refuted in 2020. Zakharova added that the continued spread of this misinformation is a deliberate attempt to mislead public opinion and create false narratives regarding high-ranking officials.

Maria Zakharova has served as the primary voice of Russian diplomacy since 2015, known for her frequent and often sharp interactions with international media. In the context of the current global political landscape and the administration of US President Donald Trump, the personal backgrounds of diplomatic figures remain a point of significant public interest. Such allegations are often viewed within the broader framework of information warfare and the ongoing diplomatic tensions between Moscow and Washington.
