Magnitude 3.4 earthquake hits Caspian Sea

A magnitude 3.4 earthquake has been recorded in the Caspian Sea.

The Earthquake Research Bureau of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences reported, as cited by Operative Information Center-OMM, that the seismic event occurred at 08:40 local time.

According to the center, the earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 29 kilometers. No damage or casualties have been reported following the tremor.

The Caspian Sea region is characterized by moderate seismic activity, with tectonic movements frequently causing minor tremors. The Republican Seismic Survey Center of Azerbaijan continuously monitors seismic activity in the Caspian basin and across the territory of Azerbaijan to ensure early warning and safety assessment.
