Argentina national team captain Lionel Messi has stated that his squad remains committed to pursuing further success on the international stage.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from TyC Sports, the star forward emphasized that the team has not lost its motivation despite their recent achievements.

"As I have said before, this team does not stop halfway. I think we have proven this against every opponent. This is a winning team that always wants more," the star footballer remarked.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This edition of the tournament will be historic, as it marks the first time 48 teams will participate in the competition. Argentina is currently preparing for the group stage, where they are set to face Algeria, Austria, and Jordan.

In recent weeks, international media speculation arose regarding Iran's participation in the tournament amid geopolitical tensions, with some outlets suggesting potential disqualification. However, these claims have been dismissed. On May 18, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed that FIFA has provided guarantees regarding the national team's participation in the 2026 World Cup.
