The Israeli army fired three shells at the area surrounding the Al-Mantara Dam in Syria’s southern Quneitra province on Wednesday, Syrian media reported.

According to Syria’s Alikhbaria TV, the shelling targeted the area around the dam in central Quneitra. No casualties or material damage were immediately reported.

Shelling follows incursions into Quneitra

The incident came a day after Israeli forces carried out two incursions into rural areas of Quneitra, where troops assaulted shepherds, including minors.

The shelling occurred amid continued Israeli actions in Syrian territory. Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa addressed the issue last week in a speech before the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Sharaa cites Israeli strikes and arrests

Sharaa said Israel had carried out around 500 airstrikes and artillery attacks, more than 1,200 incursions, and about 300 arrests and detentions since late 2024.

He rejected attempts to impose a fait accompli, reaffirmed Syria’s commitment to the 1974 Separation of Forces Agreement and called for Israeli forces to withdraw to the positions they held before Dec. 8, 2024.
