The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the downing of a US-owned MQ-9 Reaper drone over Iranian territory, alongside reports of missile strikes targeting US facilities in the region.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the IRGC statement was disseminated by the Tasnim news agency.

The IRGC reported that its naval forces intercepted and destroyed the MQ-9 Reaper drone in the skies over the Jam district of Bushehr province. Furthermore, the organization claimed to have struck 21 targets at US military bases across the region.

Additionally, the IRGC Aerospace Force utilized long-range solid-fuel missiles to strike four targets, including hangars housing F-35 fighter jets at the Al-Azraq airbase in Jordan. The IRGC emphasized that Iranian military forces remain prepared to deliver a crushing and decisive response to any further aggression, placing full responsibility for the consequences on the United States.

The MQ-9 Reaper, manufactured by General Atomics, is a sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) primarily used by the United States Air Force for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. Its deployment in the Middle East has historically been a point of contention between Washington and Tehran, with incidents involving such aircraft often serving as flashpoints for regional geopolitical instability.
