Iran’s accusation that Israeli intelligence was responsible for an incident involving a Flydubai aircraft is an attempt to divert attention from the main issue, Andrey Zeltyn, a senior lecturer at Russia’s Higher School of Economics and an orientalist, said.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Russian expert said Iran’s accusations were not surprising, adding that Tehran often uses similar tactics to avoid responsibility.
According to Zeltyn, Israeli intelligence had no reason to stage an incident in the cockpit of a civilian aircraft to reignite the confrontation.
The incident occurred on the morning of September 30 aboard an aircraft flying to Tel Aviv. After the aircraft rapidly lost altitude during the flight, it first transmitted the 7700 emergency code and then code 7500, which indicates a suspected hijacking.
