The Iranian Armed Forces have restored full military control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime corridor for global energy supplies.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Tasnim news agency, the announcement was made by Ebrahim Zulfuqari, an official at Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Military Command. Zulfuqari stated that the strategic waterway is now under strict management and surveillance by the armed forces. "This strategic strait is under the strict management and control of the armed forces. In accordance with previous agreements, the Islamic Republic of Iran had agreed to allow a limited number of oil tankers and commercial vessels to pass through the Strait of Hormuz under a regulated regime. Unfortunately, the Americans, who have repeatedly broken their promises, continue to engage in maritime piracy," the statement noted.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital oil transit chokepoints, linking Middle East crude producers to key markets across the globe. Approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway daily. Tensions in the region often impact global energy prices, and the restoration of strict military control by Tehran marks a significant shift in the security dynamics of the Persian Gulf. This development comes amid ongoing geopolitical friction involving US President Donald Trump's administration and regional maritime security initiatives.
