Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has presented President Masoud Pezeshkian with the United States’ new proposals on talks with Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reported, citing foreign media outlets.
No further details have so far been disclosed about the content of the proposal.
Araghchi had earlier traveled to New York to attend the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. Last week, the Iranian foreign minister said Tehran had presented the US side with a seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. In return, Iran demanded the lifting of the naval blockade and restrictions imposed on its oil exports. However, US President Donald Trump rejected the proposal.
On Sept. 28, Araghchi said that despite Trump’s statement, Iran was still awaiting a final response from mediators.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes, connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the wider Arabian Sea. Any restrictions on maritime traffic through the strait could affect global oil supplies and energy markets.
