Iran currently has no intention of closing the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, according to the country's top diplomat.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made these remarks during an interview with the Al Jazeera television channel. The Foreign Minister stated that at this stage, Tehran is not planning to take any steps toward obstructing the passage of vessels through the strategic waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital maritime chokepoints, situated between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. It serves as the primary transit route for approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption. Given its strategic importance, any potential closure or disruption in the strait typically triggers significant fluctuations in global energy markets and impacts international maritime security.
