Iran has executed two individuals convicted of planning attacks within the country, according to state media reports. The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Al Jazeera, reports that the executions were carried out following the finalization of their legal proceedings.

The Iranian judiciary stated that the convicts were linked to the People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran (MEK), an exiled opposition group. The death sentences were implemented by hanging after being upheld by the country's Supreme Court. This follows a similar incident on March 30, when two other individuals were executed on charges of maintaining ties with the same organization.

The People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran, which Tehran designates as a terrorist group, has been involved in a decades-long conflict with the Iranian leadership. Human rights organizations have frequently raised concerns regarding the use of capital punishment in Iran, particularly in cases involving political charges or national security. According to international monitors, Iran remains one of the world's leading practitioners of the death penalty, often citing internal stability and counter-terrorism as justification for such measures.
