Iran's official news agency, IRNA, reported that the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has shot down a US-owned "MQ-1" unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) over the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the drone was neutralized while operating over the critical maritime chokepoint. Iranian authorities have not yet released detailed information regarding the specific circumstances of the incident.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global shipping lane, and any military escalation in the area carries significant geopolitical implications for international energy markets and regional security. Analysts warn that such incidents risk further heightening tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The IRGC and US military forces have periodically engaged in confrontations and similar incidents within the region. As of this report, US officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
