President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter says:
“Dear Mr. President,
On the occasion of October 1 – the National Day of the People’s Republic of China, I am pleased to extend, on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of Azerbaijan, my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to you and, through you, to the friendly people of China.
The historic achievements and successes attained by the People’s Republic of China under your determined leadership and far-sighted strategic course in national welfare, socioeconomic and scientific-technical progress, innovative development and other key areas are highly commendable. Today, China has taken its rightful place among the world’s most powerful states and earned the status of an important and influential center of power.
We attach particular importance to developing our relations with China, a friendly country and reliable strategic partner. The high-level political dialogue, mutual trust and understanding established between us, as well as the consistent support our countries provide for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, are characteristic features of Azerbaijan-China relations. The elevation of our interstate ties to an entirely new historical stage – the level of comprehensive strategic partnership – is a vivid practical expression of our firm political will and consistent joint efforts.
In recent years, the chronicle of our bilateral relations has been enriched by important events, while our effective cooperation in economic and trade, transport and logistics, investment, energy, agriculture and humanitarian fields has developed dynamically and acquired new substance. The visa-free travel regime introduced between our countries a year ago has, in turn, given impetus to people-to-people contacts and tourism.
At the same time, the Belt and Road initiative, of which you are the initiator and which Azerbaijan has consistently supported, including the Middle Corridor and other connectivity projects implemented together with Central Asian countries, serve as important factors of global cooperation.
I am pleased to note that cooperation between our countries in the energy sector has developed and has now entered a new phase. The effective work carried out in Azerbaijan in the renewable energy sector by your country’s leading Universal Energy company is commendable. The recent opening of the Gobustan Solar Power Plant built by the company is another example of the diversification of Azerbaijan-China economic ties.
Dear Mr. President,
I am confident that the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, rooted in ancient history and beneficial traditions, will continue to develop on an upward trajectory and grow stronger through our joint efforts, in line with the will of our peoples.
On this festive occasion, I once again extend my most sincere congratulations to you and wish you robust health, happiness and success in your high state activities, as well as peace, prosperity and well-being to the friendly people of China.”
