President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Daramber Qoxul, on May 19. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in the capital.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude to the Mauritian President for participating in the WUF13 event, noting that the visit provides an excellent opportunity to discuss the development of bilateral relations. The head of state voiced satisfaction with the current level of political ties between the two nations. President Daramber Qoxul, in turn, thanked President Ilham Aliyev for the invitation and highlighted the significance of his visit in exploring various aspects of bilateral cooperation.
During his stay in Baku, the Mauritian President visited an "ASAN service" center, stating he was deeply impressed by the conditions and efficiency of the model. He expressed a strong interest in implementing a similar system in his country. President Ilham Aliyev responded by stating that Azerbaijan has already collaborated with several countries regarding the ASAN model and is fully prepared to support Mauritius by sharing its expertise and providing necessary technical support.
Furthermore, President Daramber Qoxul thanked the Azerbaijani leader for educational scholarships provided to Mauritian students and requested consideration for increasing these opportunities in the future. The meeting also covered cooperation within international organizations and the importance of high-level reciprocal visits. Discussions included potential partnerships in economy, investment, energy—specifically renewable energy—and tourism.
The "ASAN service" (Azerbaijan Service and Assessment Network) was established in 2012 to increase transparency and modernize public administration in Azerbaijan. It has since become a global brand, receiving the United Nations Public Service Award. Azerbaijan continues to promote this model internationally as part of its commitment to South-South cooperation and the digital transformation of public services.
