People now live in 48 cities and villages in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks on September 15 while receiving a delegation comprising Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, members and observers of the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States, co-organizers of the Yahya Bakuvi International Conference and members of the Supreme Religious Council of the Peoples of the Caucasus.
The president said Azerbaijan was now living as a victorious people and a triumphant state:
"Today, people live in 48 cities and villages in Garabagh and Eastern Zangazur. In other words, former internally displaced persons have returned, while those working and studying there have settled in these areas. The Great Return Program is being successfully implemented. More than 90,000 people already live in the cities and villages I mentioned. Life has returned, and this is our great achievement, a historic achievement. Our people lived in hardship and suffering for 30 years. Today, however, we live as a victorious people and a triumphant state."
The Great Return program is aimed at resettling citizens in areas liberated by Azerbaijan and rebuilding residential, social and economic infrastructure. The restoration process includes the construction of housing, roads, schools, healthcare facilities and other public services.
