Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a wide-ranging speech at the International Justice Summit in Istanbul. He said the modern international legal system was in crisis, global agreements were losing their authority and international courts’ rulings were not being enforced.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Turkish leader sharply criticized the current international order, emphasizing:
“International treaties and legal mechanisms have effectively lost their force. Likewise, decisions made by international courts are not being implemented. If the UN system does not reflect the collective will of the international community and the principle of justice, it cannot be legitimized or considered fair.”
Addressing the humanitarian catastrophe and military operations in the Gaza Strip, Erdoğan said the region had been turned into the largest concentration camp of the modern era by forces that disregard international law and pursue a policy of genocide. The Turkish President called on the international community and legal institutions to demonstrate accountability and restore the rule of law.
