Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan has expressed hope that the 81st UN General Assembly will benefit humanity through decisions taken at the gathering and new diplomatic ties established there.
“I hope that the 81st UN General Assembly will bring benefit to all humanity through the decisions that will be taken and the new bonds that will be established,” Erdogan said on Turkey’s social media platform “NSosyal”, according to the Anadolu Agency.
She also voiced hope that the intensive diplomatic activity would help deliver the consensus and peace needed around the world.
UN gathering addresses global challenges
The high-level General Debate of the UN General Assembly opened on Tuesday in New York under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
Heads of state and government are attending the meeting to discuss major international security, geopolitical and economic issues.
General Debate to run through Sept. 28
The 81st session of the General Assembly formally began on Sept. 8. The high-level General Debate is scheduled to conclude on Sept. 28.
