Former Sabah head coach Elshad Ahmadov assessed the Baku club’s victory over Slavia in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League.
Ahmadov said the team played fast football against the Czech side and prevented its opponents from building attacks on several occasions. He praised Sabah’s performance and stressed that qualifying for the league phase is no easy task.
The former head coach said the opponents in the upcoming matches would be stronger, but he believes Sabah will not give up. He also noted that the team had not looked poor in its 4-0 away defeat to Manchester United and had not been intimidated by its opponent.
He said Sabah could earn points or even win against Borussia Dortmund if it produced a strong performance. The match against Slavia, played at Baku Olympic Stadium, ended in a 2-0 victory for the Azerbaijani club. Sabah will host the Dortmund side in its next match on October 20.
