Aftandil Hajiyev assesses Sabah’s Champions League chances

Qarabag academy coordinator Aftandil Hajiyev has shared his views on Sabah’s upcoming UEFA Champions League league-phase match against Slavia. He said the draw was difficult for the Azerbaijani club but added that Sabah could earn points against Slavia and Viking.

In Hajiyev’s view, making their league-phase debut will give Sabah valuable experience regardless of the result. He said support from home fans would give the team an additional boost and noted that 60,000 fans are expected to fill the stands.

The Qarabag academy coordinator also highlighted Slavia’s attacking potential. According to Hajiyev, the Czech side scored four or five goals against the champions of Israel and Denmark on its way to qualifying for the Champions League. He described the opposition as dangerous in attack but rated Sabah’s chances of earning points in other matches in the competition highly.

The Sabah-Slavia match will be played at Baku Olympic Stadium on October 13 at 20:45.
