Slavia defender Tomas Vlcek said his team want to win their match against Sabah in the second round of the Champions League league phase.
Speaking at a pre-match news conference, the player said the team’s long wait for a victory in the competition had provided extra motivation. According to Vlcek, Slavia have achieved good results since their Champions League match against Lens, and what happened in that game had a positive effect on the team.
“Pressure does not hinder us. Our team deserves to win in the Champions League. We have not won in this competition for a long time, and that motivates us even more. We want to return from Baku with a victory,” the defender said.
Vlcek described Sabah as a high-calibre and strong opponent. He said the Azerbaijani club had performed well in the qualifying rounds and that his team had done everything possible to prepare for the match.
The Sabah-Slavia match will be played in Baku on October 13, kicking off at 20:45.
