Elon Musk has contributed more than $445 million to federal political committees during the 2026 US election cycle, making him the largest disclosed individual political donor in modern American history, Anadolu Agency reported, citing CNN.
The “Tesla” and “SpaceX” chief executive’s donations have significantly strengthened Republican fundraising ahead of November’s midterm elections, placing him among the party’s biggest financial backers, the report said.
| Recipient | Contribution |
|---|---|
| America PAC | More than $216 million |
| Senate Leadership Fund | $168 million |
| Congressional Leadership Fund | $30 million |
Musk’s political action committee, America PAC, has been active in more than 40 House and Senate races, according to federal campaign disclosures. Other recipients of his money include several smaller Republican-aligned political groups.
His total contributions are more than double the nearly $177 million that Democratic billionaire George Soros gave to outside groups during the 2022 midterm election cycle.
Brendan Glavin, who oversees research at the nonprofit OpenSecrets, said Musk’s financial involvement could have a decisive impact on the midterm elections.
“One person is completely dominating and changing the landscape of how Republicans are able to spend money and defend themselves,” Glavin said.
Musk’s spending has also been heavily concentrated in Texas, where Republican-aligned groups have used substantial funding to support political campaigns and target Democratic candidates. Several of Musk’s businesses are headquartered or incorporated in the state.
