A driver operating a vehicle while under the influence of narcotics has been apprehended in Baku, according to the Main State Traffic Police Department. The incident was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM.
Authorities stated that officers from the Ecological Control Traffic Patrol Division identified the driver during a routine traffic stop. The individual, identified as Mingachevir resident Ilyas Huseynov, was initially pulled over for improper use of vehicle lighting while operating a Ford automobile.
During the document verification process, officers observed suspicious behavior, prompting them to require the driver to undergo a medical examination. The test confirmed that Huseynov had consumed narcotic substances. Following the examination, a court ruling sentenced Huseynov to 15 days of administrative detention.
The Main State Traffic Police Department has issued a stern warning to all motorists, emphasizing that driving under the influence of narcotics poses a severe threat to public safety. The department reiterated its commitment to taking strict enforcement measures against such illegal activities to ensure road safety across Azerbaijan.
In Azerbaijan, traffic safety regulations are strictly enforced, with the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducting regular operations to identify and penalize drivers who violate traffic laws or operate vehicles while impaired. These measures are part of a broader national strategy to reduce road traffic accidents and enhance public security on the country's highways.
