Novak Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, has commented on his defeat in the second round of the Shanghai Masters. The Serbian tennis player lost 4-6, 3-6 to Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 64.
Djokovic said he was not at the level he had shown at the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing and was feeling tired. He noted that the court surface in Shanghai is faster than in Beijing. Djokovic also highlighted how difficult Hurkacz was to return against, adding that his opponent served particularly well that day.
The Serbian player said he had not had enough time to adjust to the Shanghai tournament. He added that an early exit in Shanghai was not a serious problem after a successful week in Beijing.
Djokovic said he currently plans to play only in the Paris tournament before the end of the season. He said he first wants to rest and prepare for Paris, where he hopes to perform well. “Punto de Break” reported his comments.
