A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck southern Panama on Friday, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said, revising its initial estimate of 7.6.
The quake was centred 12 kilometres west-southwest of Pitaloza Arriba and occurred at a depth of 12.6 kilometres, according to the USGS.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.
