The quarterfinal stage of the U-17 European Boxing Championships has concluded in Budva, Montenegro. Six more members of Azerbaijan’s national team advanced to the semifinals, bringing the country’s total number of semifinalists to eight.
Jamila Muradli (57 kg) defeated Czech boxer Rozalie Uhrova 4:1. She will face Italy’s Morena Stifani in the semifinals. Hasrat Mammadov (46 kg) beat Slovakia’s Kristian Mezes in just 79 seconds. His next opponent will be Ireland’s Ronan Charles.
Ismayil Nasirzade (52 kg) defeated Israel’s Gleb Grinblat 5:0 and will meet Ireland’s Martin Nevi in the semifinals. Gadir Rahimov (54 kg) also won 5:0, beating Belarusian Mikita Beskaravainy. He will face Montenegro’s Strahinja Mrdak.
Mohammadali Istamov (57 kg) defeated Greece’s Eleftherios Zournatsis after the opposing coach stopped the bout following the first two rounds. Istamov’s semifinal opponent will be Ukraine’s Nikita Zakharchenko. Hidayat Mammadov (70 kg) knocked out Russia’s Sandro Tsimtsba in the first round. He will face Ireland’s Paddy Nevin.
Sama Abbasova (66 kg) and Khumar Jafarli (+80 kg) had reached the semifinals earlier. The semifinal bouts will take place today, while the final bouts are scheduled for October 11.
