The death toll from overnight Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, has risen to 11, with 46 others reported injured.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the updated figures via his social media channels.

In a video statement, Klitschko reported that significant destruction has been recorded across four districts of the capital, with search and rescue operations currently underway at the affected sites. The Podil district has been identified as the area sustaining the most severe damage following the intense aerial bombardment that began at 02:45 local time.

The escalation follows warnings issued just a day prior by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who stated that the government had received intelligence indicating Russia was preparing for new, large-scale attacks. President Zelenskyy had urged citizens to strictly adhere to safety protocols and remain vigilant regarding air raid alerts.

Initial reports from the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, had placed the casualty count at three dead and 25 injured. However, as emergency services continued their work, official figures were updated to reflect the current toll of 11 fatalities and 46 injuries. The conflict, which has seen frequent aerial attacks on Ukrainian urban centers, continues to pose severe risks to civilian infrastructure and safety.
