Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has issued a detailed statement on official social media accounts about a new wave of large-scale Russian missile and air strikes across the country.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Zelenskyy said ballistic missiles targeted the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.
The Ukrainian president said allied countries had not warned Kyiv in advance about this latest large-scale air attack. He said the strikes caused serious damage to Thermal Power Plant No. 4 (TPP-4), a strategic energy facility in the capital.
Recalling that U.S. President Donald Trump announced three days ago that Russia and Ukraine had reached an agreement to halt attacks on energy infrastructure, Zelenskyy responded sharply: “The Russian side does not consider it important to comply with the U.S. president’s statements or the agreements reached.”
In another post, the Ukrainian president said Russian forces had launched 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 kamikaze drones at Ukrainian territory overnight. The attacks mainly targeted critical and energy infrastructure in Kyiv and Kharkiv regions. Assessing the strikes, Zelenskyy said: “The scale of Russia’s open disrespect toward the United States is unprecedented.”
According to information provided by Zelenskyy, 26 major facilities in the electricity, natural gas and oil sectors across the country sustained extensive damage. “Unfortunately, at least 600,000 people across the country are currently without electricity. More widespread and extensive outages across the networks cannot be ruled out.”
Zelenskyy called on the international community to impose tougher sanctions on Moscow. He said Russia’s leadership had missed an opportunity to ease tensions and had chosen to continue its destructive war.
The article describes attacks on energy infrastructure amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Energy facilities and electricity networks are critical infrastructure, and damage to them can disrupt power supplies to households and essential services.
