Cuba has strongly condemned new measures by the United States aimed at preventing fuel supplies to the island nation.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla voiced these concerns in response to the tightening of economic restrictions. "We condemn in the strongest terms the latest escalation by the United States against Cuba. They are now proposing a complete blockade of fuel supplies to our country," the minister emphasized.

The Foreign Minister stated that the U.S. is resorting to blackmail and coercion to force other nations to join the blockade against Cuba by threatening to impose arbitrary and unjust tariffs. Rodriguez Parrilla further highlighted that such actions constitute a direct violation of all established free trade norms and international commercial regulations. The statement follows an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump, which imposes new tariffs on any country supplying oil to Cuba.

The escalation comes amid a long-standing history of economic sanctions imposed by Washington on Havana, which have been in place for over six decades. These measures, often referred to as the embargo, impact various sectors of the Cuban economy, including energy, finance, and trade. The recent focus on fuel supplies represents a significant intensification of this policy, aimed at restricting the island's energy security and industrial capacity. International observers note that such trade barriers often lead to increased diplomatic tension and regional economic instability.
