A commercial vessel was struck in the Strait of Hormuz, the Fars news agency reported, citing maritime security company Ambrey.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets have provided information about the incident.
According to the company, the vessel was hit while sailing along the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, north of Oman’s Khasab, resulting in a fire breaking out on board.
According to the report, although the United States and Iran signed a memorandum aimed at preparing a peace agreement, stability in the region did not last long. Mutual military strikes between the two sides resumed after Washington accused Tehran of attacking commercial vessels.
Free and safe passage for vessels through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz has now been completely suspended.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime passage linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. It is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, making disruptions there significant for international shipping and energy markets.
