Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes will miss Portugal’s upcoming Nations League group-stage match against Norway.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus said Fernandes had developed a complicated problem after the previous match against Wales and required treatment.
Fernandes’ injury
The midfielder did not take part in the national team’s final training session before the match against Norway. He started Portugal’s 1-0 win over Wales and was substituted in the final minute.
According to Jesus, Fernandes suffered the injury while playing for Manchester United and had played through pain in his last three matches. The coach said the problem had prevented the player from producing his best performance against Wales.
Portugal-Norway match
The Nations League match between Portugal and Norway will be played on Sept. 27.
The UEFA Nations League is an international competition featuring European national teams. Its group-stage matches contribute to the tournament standings and provide teams with regular competitive fixtures outside major championship finals.
