Former coach of Milan, Porto and Al-Ittihad Sergio Conceicao has commented on the dispute between Portugal national team striker Cristiano Ronaldo and the team’s head coach, Jorge Jesus.
“In our country, the standoff between Cristiano Ronaldo and the national team coach is a sensitive issue. Both are prominent figures: one is a world-class legend, while the other is an experienced and respected coach. I respect them both, but I do not believe it is right to take anyone’s side in this dispute,” Conceicao said in an interview with La Tripletta.
Ronaldo left the national team camp before its match against Denmark in the third round of the Nations League, which Portugal won 4-2. This happened despite Jorge Jesus saying there was no conflict.
It was also reported that Jesus had agreed to meet with the striker to reconcile.
