Bournemouth head coach Marco Rose said his team would remain humble after a 3-0 win over Milan in the third round of the Europa League league phase. The English side have won all three of their matches in the competition.
Rose said it was an important evening for the club and its supporters and that he was proud of his players. The team, he said, played well from the first minute to the last.
The coach said Bournemouth started well against 11 players, pressed the opposition, won duels, created chances and earned a penalty. Rose said a red card later in the match affected the game, adding that such situations can sometimes create difficulties despite a numerical advantage. He said his team pinned Milan back and did not allow them to create a scoring opportunity.
“We will stay humble. We know we are playing well and understand that, with a full squad, we can compete against any opponent anywhere. But we have a lot of matches and serious tests ahead. Ask me again in April about our prospects in the Europa League. We are moving in the right direction, but we must not become complacent. If we think we have already achieved our goal, we will have problems. We must prove our ability time and again,” ESPN quoted Rose as saying.
Justin Kluivert scored for Bournemouth in the eighth minute, Marcus Tavernier in the 32nd and Ismael Bennacer in the 84th. Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off in the 28th minute.
