By the decision of the Board of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) dated March 5, 2026, and in accordance with current legislation, preliminary approval has been granted for the reorganization of Bank BTB OJSC into a non-bank credit organization, based on the bank's own request.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the CBA, a plan for fulfilling obligations to depositors and other creditors has been approved and implemented as part of the reorganization process. Consequently, an "Asset and Liability Transfer Agreement" was signed between the International Bank of Azerbaijan (ABB) and Bank BTB OJSC. Under this agreement, the transfer of all assets and liabilities from Bank BTB to ABB has been successfully completed.
For customers of Bank BTB OJSC, all term and demand deposits have been transferred to ABB in full without any changes to their original terms. This ensures that all clients maintain uninterrupted access to their funds and can continue to utilize their accounts without disruption.
Furthermore, the transfer of the credit portfolio has also been finalized. The rights to claim against customers with outstanding loan debts or other obligations to Bank BTB have been transferred to ABB. The terms of these credit agreements remain in effect, ensuring the continuity of loan servicing for all borrowers.
The International Bank of Azerbaijan (ABB), established in 1992, remains the largest bank in the country and plays a pivotal role in the national financial system. This consolidation is part of the broader regulatory efforts by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan to optimize the banking sector and ensure the stability of financial institutions operating within the Republic.
