Balakishi Gasimov has been re-elected as the General Director of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (ITV) of Azerbaijan for a new four-year term.
The decision was made during a meeting of the company's Broadcasting Council, Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Audiovisual Council. The document submission process for the position was managed by the Audiovisual Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan from April 27 to May 8, after which the applications were submitted to the Broadcasting Council. One candidate, Ilaha Khudu gizi Aliyeva, withdrew her candidacy prior to the vote, leaving the remaining candidates to present their development concepts and answer questions from the council members.
Following a secret ballot, Balakishi Gasimov was chosen to continue leading the public broadcaster. The election process was monitored by observers from the Audiovisual Council, the Media Development Agency, and ITV officials. Established in 2005, ITV is Azerbaijan's official public broadcaster and a member of the European Broadcasting Union, playing a key role in delivering public interest programming and broadcasting major international events in Azerbaijan.
