Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan should run for president for a third time.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader and lawmaker Devlet Bahçeli said this at Turkey’s Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
He said the Turkish parliament should adopt a resolution to allow Erdoğan to run for president once more:
“It would be appropriate for the presidential election to be held in 2028 by a decision of the TBMM. We also hope that Erdoğan will run for president again and be elected.”
Under Turkey’s presidential system, the president is elected for a five-year term and can serve a maximum of two terms. The constitution provides for an additional candidacy if parliament decides to renew the election during a president’s second term.
