Azerbaijan’s Sheikh discusses sharia issues linked to AI

“It is important to attach particular importance to the issue of artificial intelligence in sharia.”

Qafqazinfo, citing "Operative Information Center-OMM", reports that Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims’ Board, made the remarks at the seventh meeting of Muslim religious leaders of the Organization of Turkic States in Baku.

He said a special meeting of muftis should be held to discuss issues related to artificial intelligence.

“Religious believers are waiting for our views on this issue,” Allahshukur Pashazade said.

Artificial intelligence is increasingly raising questions for religious scholars, including ethical considerations and the application of religious principles to emerging technologies. Such discussions are intended to help religious institutions provide guidance to their communities as the use of AI expands.
