Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Türkiye exceeded $3.2 billion in the first eight months of 2026.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made the remarks at a joint press briefing with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, in Baku.
He noted that the two countries maintain special formats governing their relations:
“This cooperation exists within the framework of the Strategic Cooperation Council, political consultations, the commission on economic cooperation and other platforms.”
The minister also highly praised the activities of Turkish companies in the territories liberated from occupation.
Bayramov added that the two countries currently have projects with significant potential, designed to shape cooperation over the coming decades:
“Work is being carried out in this context. Among these projects, I should mention the transportation of alternative energy produced in Azerbaijan across the Black Sea, Türkiye’s participation in this process, as well as the new energy cable connecting Nakhchivan with Türkiye. This project has enormous potential not only for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, but also for the European market.”
According to him, important projects are also being implemented between Azerbaijan and Türkiye in the transport sector.
The minister further said that the meetings of the intergovernmental commission between the two countries are considered highly important. “Discussions are held here on cooperation in the humanitarian, youth, sports and other areas,” he said.
Azerbaijan and Türkiye maintain close strategic, economic and transport ties. Energy and connectivity projects linking Azerbaijan with Türkiye and European markets are among the key areas of their bilateral cooperation.
