The Main State Traffic Police Department has warned road users about windy weather.
The department provided the information to Operative Information Center-OMM.
The National Hydrometeorological Service has issued yellow and orange warnings for windy conditions in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula and some regions.
The Main State Traffic Police Department urged road users to take care and strictly follow traffic rules to reduce risks that adverse weather could create on the roads:
“Owners and drivers of vehicles with trailers, tarpaulin-covered trucks and long-load vehicles should act responsibly, remember that driving in windy weather can be difficult and dangerous, and pay special attention to securing their cargo.
Drivers are advised to keep their vehicles away from objects that could slide, topple or otherwise pose a danger, and to park in enclosed spaces where possible.
In open areas, windblown dust can reduce visibility. Drivers should therefore monitor their speed and following distance, and take care when overtaking or manoeuvring.
Pedestrians should also assess the weather conditions carefully and avoid behaviour that could endanger their own lives and health or those of other road users.”
