Azerbaijan has recorded a decline in the number of crimes committed in recent years.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev made the statement at an event held at the Prosecutor General’s Office to mark the 108th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s prosecution service and the professional holiday of prosecution employees.
Aliyev said prosecution authorities had worked jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice and the State Security Service to solve crimes committed in previous years.
The prosecutor general emphasized that the number of crimes recorded nationwide had declined in recent years:
“Employees of prosecution authorities play an important role in ensuring public safety in the country. Statistics show a significant decline in the number of serious and less serious crimes. At the same time, nine crimes committed many years ago were solved in 2026.”
The prosecution service is responsible for overseeing compliance with the law, conducting criminal prosecutions and coordinating efforts with other law enforcement agencies. Such cooperation is intended to strengthen public safety and improve the detection of previously unsolved crimes.
