For the 2026/2027 academic year, 33,120 spots have been allocated for vocational education in Azerbaijan.
According to the "Operative Information Center-OMM", this was announced by Ilgar Bayramli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education, during a briefing regarding student admissions and newly established specializations.
Bayramli highlighted that since 2020, the number of students enrolling in vocational education has increased by 90%. "For the 2026/2027 academic year, 33,120 spots have been allocated across 149 specializations in 78 vocational education institutions. Of these, 3,000 spots are for initial vocational education, 27,260 for technical vocational education, and 2,860 for higher technical vocational education," he stated. He also noted that in accordance with the "Socio-economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026," the target for the new academic year is to enroll 28,140 students.
Furthermore, Bayramli emphasized that 74% of the admission plan (24,425 spots) consists of state-funded positions. "The number of state-funded spots has increased by 52% over the last four years," he added.
Vocational education in Azerbaijan has become a key priority for the government as part of efforts to align the labor market with modern economic demands. By expanding technical and vocational training, the country aims to reduce unemployment and provide skilled labor for rapidly developing sectors such as industry, agriculture, and the service economy, particularly in liberated territories.
