Key members of U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration held a secret meeting at the president’s Camp David retreat to discuss possible next steps toward Iran.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Axios news outlet cited three U.S. officials as saying this.
The outlet noted that the previous meeting of this kind took place in June 2025, just days before Israel attacked Iran.
Vice President J.D. Vance chaired the meeting. Participants included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine.
Trump previously told Time magazine that he considered it possible the United States could resume bombing Iran after the U.S. midterm elections.
The outlet also reported that Trump has been urged to join a planned Saudi Arabian offensive against the Houthis in Yemen. Riyadh is pressing Trump to authorize airstrikes against the rebels. He is still inclined to refuse, but U.S. officials said he could change his mind.
