Armenian PM Pashinyan arrives in Tehran for Khamenei funeral

A farewell ceremony for Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has commenced in Tehran. The multi-day event is expected to draw high-level delegations from numerous countries across the globe.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the body of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who reportedly died following a joint strike by the US and Israel, was transported to Tehran this morning, officially marking the start of the funeral proceedings in the capital.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has arrived in Tehran to participate in the mourning events. In total, representatives from nearly 100 countries are expected to attend the ceremonies.

Iranian officials have stated that the farewell and burial ceremonies will take place from July 4 to July 9. The schedule includes a farewell ceremony and funeral procession in Tehran from July 4 to July 6.

According to the announced itinerary, a funeral procession will be held in the city of Qom on July 7. On July 8, the body is scheduled to be transported to Iraq for visitation by Shia Muslims, with the final burial planned for July 9 in his birthplace, the city of Mashhad.

The death of a high-ranking official in Iran often triggers significant geopolitical shifts in the region. Given Iran's complex relations with its neighbors and global powers, international attendance at such events is closely monitored by diplomatic observers to gauge regional stability and future diplomatic alignments.
