"Apple" Rusiyanın məşhur tətbiqlərini "App Store"dan sildi

US technology giant Apple has removed VK, one of Russia's most popular social media platforms, and several associated applications from its App Store.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing foreign media, that Apple unilaterally removed the applications without prior notice.

According to the statement, applications including VK, Zen, VK Video, VK Messenger, VK Music, VK Dating, and Odnoklassniki can no longer be downloaded or updated on Apple devices. VK noted that the company is not currently subject to international sanctions. Despite this, Apple's decision has restricted access to services widely used by millions of users in Russia.

The company further emphasized that due to the inability to update the applications, users may experience issues receiving instant notifications regarding messages and important events.

In its official response, VK stated, "We consider these steps taken by Apple against Russian users to be unfounded and unacceptable."

It should be noted that Apple has previously removed a number of other Russian-owned applications from the App Store. In response to shifting digital landscapes and geopolitical tensions, Russia has implemented various restrictions on foreign platforms within its borders, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and X.

This move by Apple reflects the ongoing complexities in the global technology sector, where major platforms often find themselves navigating the intersection of corporate policy, international regulatory environments, and geopolitical developments. Such actions highlight the increasing fragmentation of digital services as tech companies adjust their operations in response to evolving compliance requirements.
