On October 8, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev visited the CIS National Culinary Festival in the city of Turkmenbashi.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the festival is being held as part of events organized by Turkmenistan in connection with its 2026 chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Eight countries are represented at the festival.
A national pavilion with two sections has been set up at the festival venue through the joint efforts of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture and State Tourism Agency. The culinary section presents Azerbaijani national cuisine and rich gastronomic traditions. Visitors can see local plants, fruits, grains, nuts and other products from various regions of Azerbaijan, as well as the country’s tea culture tradition, which is included on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The pavilion’s second section features carpet weaving, kelaghayi silk scarves, copper craftsmanship, wood carving and ceramics. It also recreates the interior of a 19th-century Garabagh home based on an exhibition at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.
Azerbaijani music, including mugham, was also performed at the pavilion by young singers.
