A new president has been elected for the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation.
At the general meeting of the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation Public Union held at the administrative building of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ağakərim Səmədzadə, first deputy minister of ecology and natural resources, was elected head of the federation.
The meeting began with the national anthem. Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov welcomed the participants and wished them success. He thanked Mukhtar Babayev for his work during his four-year tenure as head of the federation.
The meeting presented a report on the Azerbaijan Mountaineering Federation’s activities in 2022-2026, which was approved by a vote.
An election for the federation’s leadership was then held. The newly elected president, Ağakərim Səmədzadə, thanked members for their confidence and said he would do his utmost to promote the development of mountaineering.
Mountaineering federations typically coordinate the development of climbing and high-altitude sports, organize training and competitions, and support safety standards for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
