Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) will operate in an enhanced mode during the upcoming Novruz and Ramadan holidays, specifically from March 20 to 30, to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic. To meet the increased demand and ensure uninterrupted transportation services during the public holidays, the national railway operator has scheduled additional train services to several key regions across Azerbaijan.
According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM, ADY is conducting regular technical inspections of all rolling stock and continuous infrastructure checks. These measures are designed to ensure traffic safety and the timely delivery of passengers and cargo to their destinations during the busy holiday period.
Travel to Gabala: Additional train services
To facilitate comfortable travel to Gabala, one of the most popular tourism destinations during the holidays, additional services will be provided on the Baku–Gabala–Baku route from March 20 to 30. Trains are scheduled to depart from the capital at 07:30 and return from Gabala at 19:00.
Western Region: Baku–Agstafa and Baku–Gazakh routes
Additional services have also been scheduled for the Baku–Agstafa–Baku route between March 18 and 30. Trains will depart Baku at 08:30 and Agstafa at 17:20. Notably, a 10 percent discount is being applied to tickets for this specific route. Furthermore, extra services on the Baku–Gazakh–Baku line are set for March 20, 22, 29, and 30, with departures from Baku at 07:45 and Gazakh at 16:40. Passengers can also utilize the daily scheduled services on these routes.
Travel to Garabagh: Baku–Aghdam train schedule
In an effort to organize convenient travel for those visiting Garabagh during the festivities, additional trains have been assigned to the Baku–Aghdam–Baku route for March 23 and 25. These are in addition to the traditional services scheduled for March 21 and 28. The trains will depart Baku at 07:10 and begin the return journey from Aghdam at 18:10.
Other destinations: Ganja, Balakan, and Absheron Circular Line
On March 20 and 21, services will be organized on the Ganja–Mingachevir–Ganja route. Meanwhile, travel on the Ganja–Gabala–Ganja line will follow the traditional schedule. To meet the high demand for trips to Sheki, Qakh, Zagatala, and Balakan, extra carriages will be attached to the Baku–Balakan–Baku trains on March 18, 19, 20, 27, and 29. From March 20 to 30, the Absheron Circular Railway Line will operate according to the weekend and non-working day schedule.
Novruz, the Persian New Year, is one of Azerbaijan's most significant national holidays, symbolizing the arrival of spring and the renewal of nature. During this period, thousands of citizens travel from the capital to the regions to celebrate with family, necessitating the expansion of public transport capacity. Similarly, Ramadan celebrations often see increased domestic mobility, prompting state agencies like ADY to implement reinforced security and operational protocols.
