Biography
Kamran Sultan oglu Imanov was born in 1946.
From 1969 to 1977, he worked at the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry as a chief laboratory assistant, postgraduate student, head of a sector, senior research fellow, senior lecturer and head of a research laboratory. From 1977 to 1983, he was director of the Scientific Research Computing Center of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education. From 1983 to 1992, he served as vice-rector and first vice-rector of the Azerbaijan Institute of Construction Engineers. From 1992 to 1993, he was first deputy chairman of the State Commission for Student Admission, and from 1993 to 1995, its chairman.
From 1995 to 2006, he was chairman of the Copyright Agency, and from 2006 to 2008, head of the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” under the Cabinet of Ministers. On November 19, 2008, he was reappointed chairman of the Copyright Agency. On May 7, 2018, by Presidential Order No. 58, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In 2013, he was awarded the 3rd Class Order “For Service to the Fatherland”; in 2021, the 1st Class Order “For Service to the Fatherland”; and in 2016, the Order of “Shohrat”. In 2024, he was elected Chairman of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization, and in 2025, Chairman of the Assembly of the WIPO Copyright Treaty.
Education
In 1969, he graduated from the Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry. In 1998, he received a specialized diploma in “Intellectual Property Law” from the World Intellectual Property Organization Academy.
