The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, has sent letters of condolence to the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye, Yaşar Güler, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, the Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the message expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash. "I am deeply saddened by the news that a helicopter belonging to the Qatar Armed Forces, conducting a training flight within the framework of the Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force Command, fell into the sea due to a technical failure. The accident resulted in the deaths of one serviceman of the Turkish Armed Forces, two technical employees of the ASELSAN company, and four servicemen of the Qatar Armed Forces," the letter stated. The Minister offered his prayers for the deceased and shared the grief of their families and loved ones.
The Qatar-Türkiye Combined Joint Force Command is a key element of the strategic defense partnership between Doha and Ankara, aimed at strengthening regional stability and military interoperability. Azerbaijan maintains high-level military cooperation with both nations, often participating in joint exercises and defense industry projects. This expression of solidarity from Baku highlights the strong fraternal and diplomatic ties Azerbaijan shares with its partners in the region during times of national mourning.
