Gruesome details have emerged in the killing of a woman by her husband in Baku.
“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing ITV, reports that the incident occurred in the 7th microdistrict of Binagadi district.
Forty-year-old Esmira Aghalarova was reportedly killed by her husband. Rafat Aghalarov, suspected of strangling her, was detained and handed over to investigators.
Preliminary information suggests the incident was prompted by the woman’s wish to divorce her husband.
“Auntie, help me, he’s cutting her!”
A woman who witnessed the aftermath described how she came to the scene of the killing.
According to her, a 15-year-old boy ran into the street during the incident to seek help:
“I was standing by the shop when I saw a 15-year-old boy running and shouting. He said, ‘Auntie, help me, help me, he’s cutting her, he’s cutting her.’”
The witness said she followed the boy into the house and saw the woman in critical condition:
“I went in and saw the bride lying there by the doorway. Her head was cut, and her hair was spread out like this. The whole house was covered in blood.”
The woman said police and an ambulance were subsequently called.
The witness also recounted what the victim’s mother had told her. The woman had wanted a divorce, but her husband had not agreed, she said:
“He said, ‘Give me the child, I want to kiss him, I want to see him.’ He took the child, then pulled out a knife and attacked the woman, stabbing her.”
