White House Communications Director Steven Cheung has stated that the text presented by CNN as a potential memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran does not reflect the content of any real document.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Cheung addressed the issue in a post on the X social media platform.

The White House official emphasized that the text of the memorandum allegedly obtained by CNN does not correspond to the standard language or format of an actual memorandum of understanding.

“The purported text of the Memorandum of Understanding obtained by CNN does not reflect the language of an actual Memorandum of Understanding,” Cheung stated.

This incident occurs amid heightened international scrutiny regarding diplomatic discussions between Washington and Tehran. The United States and Iran have a long history of complex diplomatic relations, often characterized by periods of tension and indirect negotiations. Memorandums of understanding in international diplomacy are formal documents outlining agreements between parties, and their authenticity is critical to maintaining diplomatic credibility. The White House's swift rebuttal underscores the sensitivity of ongoing geopolitical discourse involving the administration of US President Donald Trump.
