Vehicle traffic restrictions on several central streets in Baku will apply every day of the week.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
According to the information, restrictions on vehicle traffic in central streets will apply not only at weekends but throughout the week under a decision by the Transport Coordination Council. The measure aims to improve mobility, ensure pedestrian convenience and encourage walking.
The changes will cover the section of Zarifa Aliyeva Street after its intersection with Rasul Rza Street, as well as Abdulkarim Alizade, Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev, Tarlan Aliyarbeyov and Yusif Mammadaliyev streets.
The initiative is intended to improve links between pedestrian zones, create a more convenient and safer urban environment, and support the development of tourism and business potential in the city center.
Residents holding individual parking permits, as well as vehicles providing emergency, medical, utility and logistics services, will be allowed to enter and leave the area.
The new rules will be introduced on a trial basis from Oct. 5.
